UKS Jan Week 2 Challenge

I've been desperate to scrap a 'proper ' LO as all I seemed to have been doing lately is projects (Doc2010; December Daily; Circle Journals...). I gave in and used this weeks challenge on UKS as some inspiration. Sorry the photo's not great but the light's not good at this time.

The Challenge:
At least 3 different papers- yep, although the 3rd one can only just be seen on this shot, just under the bottom of the photo (it's a Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper)
Use Diecuts- yep. A ticket stub and a die cut bracket above the title
Dig out some old stash to use- yep, old CC papers and a paint dabber that was lying around (I possibly overdid the paint in my enthusiasm but hey ho..)
Ink something- inked the edges of the green paper and the chipboard trees plus I stamped the date next to the ticket.

I'm gonna claim full point for my team. :)

Fred Palascak

Well, wouldn't you know! I've been trying to upload the final pages of my December Daily all day to no avail. I gave up and decided to look for images to go in a circle journal I'm doing and came across this one: I give you two words: yes please! ;-)
Funny how he's happy to be uploaded, huh? I know which image will brighten your Sunday evening more too! Enjoy.....

Random Thoughts

Random thoughts that have made my radar today:

  • Big piece of cake or small piece of cake? (Clearly the correct answer was no cake, but where's the fun in that?)
  • Surely 11degrees is t- shirt weather? (As my car thermometer hit double figures for the first time in months)
  • To run or not to run? (In fact work got in the way- not that I'm slacking. Oh no.)
  • Those would look much better if they had inked edges (A clear indictation that scrapping is infiltrating my life when I can't even make captions for my classroom display without thinking about crafting)
  • Surely it's not morning already (as J happily wakes me up at 6am)
  • What part of that did you not understand? Am I wasting my time here? (Actually, this thought crossed my mind several times during my time in class today. Bang head against wall)
  • I love my mum (She's so fab, looking after my kids for me and not complaining once. Life would be sooooo much more difficult if she didn't do this for us and for that I'm really grateful).
Day off tomorrow. Rock on. :)

Inside the Word Book...

I spent a few minutes this afternoon just finishing off some projects that I had on the go and putting them to bed so to speak. I wanted to share all of them but Emma is unsettled so I'll save some til another time.

This is the inside of the word book that I made here
It's pretty basic inside as I wanted to finish it quickly and just use up old stash. I think I managed to use up most of the blue card that was lurking around, a sheet and a half of Thomas themed paper and some red thickers that came in a Sarahs Card Bargain box. It's fairly thick when finished:
The first page:

I Shall Wear Purple: Jenny Joseph

I've just found this poem on the OLW board and it's struck a chord with me so I thought I'd share it (before I go and dig something purple from my wardrobe!)

Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick the flowers in other people's gardens

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practise a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

The good, the bad and the ugly

The Good
My One Little Word goodies from Scrap Revolution have arrived. The words 'Kid' and 'Candy store' spring to mind.
This Pink Paislee album is so cute IRL. I'm definitely thinking clean, simple lines for the LO's for it. :) Love the multi-sized page protectors too although I did also buy some 8.5"x11" as additional inserts.
The Bad
10 minutes in a telephone queue to make a dr's appointment.
Waiting 25 mins to see said Dr.
Finding out E has not only an eye infection (as I thought) but also a chest infection that I hadn't realised about.

The Ugly
Weighing myself this morning to find I'd gained 5lb over Christmas. :(
Having to change jeans as the ones I was trying to wear were too tight.
Having J say, 'You've got a big tummy mummy'. (Nothing like a child to point out the obvious)
Having Weightwatchers drop a mail shot through my door this morning. Coincidental timing?
Starting the diet. Sigh.

Lemon Surprise Pudding

We've got a bit of a Nigel Slater appreciation society* going on in our house at the moment so I bought K these as a belated Christmas present from Amazon to help inspire him. However, it was actually me that cooked the first item from them: A delicious Lemon Surprise Pudding
It was absolutely gorgeous- the mixture magically separates whilst cooking into a sponge top with a delicious lemony custard underneath. Yummy!

*They've already knocked Gordon R off the shelf as there isn't room for all of them. Sorry Gordon. Jamie O made the cut but possibly only because his book coordinates in colour with these new ones. We're a bit fickle like that, ya know.... ;)
