Pretty Paper Party- more LOs

Despite having a young daughter, I'm not really a pink and lilac type scrapper. I had a set of papers left over from a class kit though, that were all the things I'm not! Oh dear. What would normally happen is that they would get left amongst all the other pp I have that is no longer loved until the day came when I would donate it (either to the bin or school!).
However, Shimelles Pretty Paper paper prompt encouraged us to make up kits of paper, chop into them with no particular plan in purpose and then use them to make a LO.
Despite not really loving these Echo Park papers, I took them out, added some Crate Paper Paper Doll remnants and a couple of sheets of cardstock and Voila! A new kit.
Cutting into it was difficult even with papers I didn't love but trusting Shimelle, I just did it!
The Lo's that follow are pretty much exclusively the result of that trust. (And for paper I didn't love, I don't think I did too badly?)

My Em at the farm in summer- a rare moment of quietness.... Digging through my photo stack I found this photo but rather than journalling about that moment in time, I decided to be retrospective and journal about how familar that grumpy face has become to me- my daughter certainly knows her own mind!

This photo was just ideal to highlight my dads nickname for Emma (and I threw in a splattering of paint, a la Shimelle, for good measure!)

It can't be that time already?!

No, I'm not crazy or ultra organised but responding to a team challenge on UKS set by a fellow teamie who wanted us to plan/make our Christmas cards. Despite wanting to resist the idea of thinking about Christmas in July, I didn't want to let her down so I teamed the idea with a prompt from Shimelle about making your own embellishments.

I started by choosing a range of co-ordinating papers from my scrap pile and then cutting them into various sized circles before inking the edges. I also choose a range of co-ordinating embellishments from my stash, which were mainly snowflake related in a range of blues and silvers. I also found some rub ons, stickers, chipboard and bling to match. Using glue and foam dot, I layered the paper circles and embellishments til I had about 12 different circle embellishents. Using some more co-ordinated paper including some glitter paper, I created the backgrounds which I finished with some machine stitching. I then added the circle embellishments in various positions, raising some with more foam dots to add interest.

Ending the blogging drought..

Ha! This has got to be my longest post EVER! I started uploading the pics at 5pm and now, after a trip to the out-of-hours Dr, (him at home, not me!) I can finally complete it at 10pm!

Anyway, I thought I'd quickly share a few cards I've made recently and try to break the blogging drought that I've been in.

Firstly, I made this for 'The Wife', otherwise known as my teaching partner. She's affectionatly known as 'The wife' because I joke that I see more of her and talk to her more than I do my husband! It's her birthday today so I made this using inspiration taken from Pinterest:

Something for a dreary day...

It's cold, wet and miserable here so I thought I'd post a few quick cards that I've made in the last few days using up old scraps of paper that I had lying around and some pastel coloured cards. Hopefully, their bright colour will cheer up the day!

This one uses some echo park papers, some stitching using my WRMK sew easy tool and some punched butterflies. It was for my SIL's 25th birthday hence the 25 on the bunting.

Some old crate paper papers (I love those little trees, squirrels and owls- too cute!) and some more WRMK sew easy stitches.

And another card with the same Crate Paper papers and some Cosmo Cricket elements and chipboard.

Hope it's not so miserable where you are. :)

A new arrival!

I haven't updated my blog for a while with very good reason- my beautiful daughter Emma arrived on the 5th December. She's fabulous and I wouldn't be without her for the world. You'll have to excuse me if my posts become rather baby focussed from now on!

Jack is brilliant with her and we really couldn't ask for him to have been any better. He loves to hold her ("Take Emma?"), kiss and cuddle her and talks to her, telling her that he's the "big brubber" and "we look after you". So, so cute!

I'm loving having a newborn around the house again and am trying really hard to relish every minute. She's a month old and is developing her own personality and routines etc. She feeds really well including only the odd feed at night (obviously likes her sleep like her mum!) and has just given us the first odd smile. Once she's smiling regularly I'll try to capture it on the camera to share! She also is a bit of a water baby and loves having a splash in the bath (the warmer the better- another similarity to me!)

Anyway, given that I have 'limited time' now, lol, I haven't done much crafting although I've still been finding smaller projects to help me scratch that crafting itch. I loved the papers in the Dec Sarahs cards kit and was inspired by the DT booklet to make the kids some Christmas door hangers:

I've also been using up some stash by making some cards using inspiration from UKS.

Will upload some other LO's from my Dec kit when I get chance! Not a bad amount of crafting when you have a toddler and a 4 week old!
